Where do these figures come from?

This is an estimate: it starts from Eurostat price indices (2024) for rent, food, transport and leisure in France, adjusted for city size and checked against Numbeo (2026-09) and the European Commission's Erasmus student survey. Think of a shared flat and cooking at home. It is not a market price and does not include flights or your home university fees.

    Experiencias Erasmus Grenoble

It compiles several dozen student experiences published between 2014 and 2024. The authors constantly highlight the markedly youthful character of Grenoble and its privileged Alpine surroundings, ideal for skiing in Chamrousse or Les Deux Alpes and hiking to the Bastille. Warnings about the extreme climate of the basin (hot at the end of summer and very cold in winter) are repeated, as well as the cost of apartments in the center, which range between 400 and 600 euros per month. They recommend opting for the Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus in CROUS residences such as Berlioz or Condillac and getting around by bicycle or tram. However, the reviews barely delve into the specific academic difficulty of engineering or political science exams.

Foro Erasmus Grenoble, Francia | Erasmusu.com

A meeting point structured in threads covering cohorts from 2018/2019 to calls for 2026/2027. Most of the comments correspond to Spanish students attending the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) or polytechnic centers such as Grenoble INP (Ensimag, Phelma, Ense3) looking for flatmates to rent an apartment or resolving the allocation of public residences. Recurring doubts about transport, snow equipment, and the creation of messaging groups to share trips and leisure are addressed. It is very valuable for confirming real pre-departure concerns, although many discussions are cut short as soon as users organize external WhatsApp groups.
